This cake is easy and delicious, extra tender and the crumb is moist. You'll love this recipe for "home made" tasting cake.
Take a boxed cake mix, I used lemon for this recipe - always Duncan Hines (Grammy Ann says it's the best!) And then just adjust the add-ins. This box called for water - I used milk. I used butter instead of oil and added about 2 Tbsp. of mayo. Lastly I added a teaspoon of vanilla.
Water --> Milk
Oil --> Butter
+ 2 Tbsp. Mayo
+ 1 tsp. Vanilla (and 1 tsp Lemon Extract in this recipe)
Adjust vanilla as desired. You can use these substitutes in any flavor cake. A little peppermint extract in a chocolate cake would be nice. Have fun and experiment!
I added the mayo as a nod to Aunt Deanie's Chocolate Mayo Cake recipe.
