Bang Bang Shrimp

One of my favorites at Bonefish Grill®, Bang Bang Shrimp®!  This copycat recipe is a quick appetizer or dinner entree that will surprise you with it's distinctive flavor.  The sweet chili sauce sends it over the top!


12 oz. medium white shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tsp. paprika
1 cup buttermilk (make your own with 1 cup milk and 1 Tbsp. lemon juice)
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
2/3 cup mayonnaise
1/8 cup Thai chili sauce
1 tsp. of Sriracha (optional)
1 tsp. garlic powder
2-3 cups chopped salad greens such as romaine
Chopped green onions (optional)


Marinate shrimp in buttermilk and paprika for 1 hour.

Mix flour and baking powder in zipper bag.  Shake off excess buttermilk and add shrimp to bag, shake well to coat.

In 1/4" of vegetable oil, fry shrimp until cooked through and golden, about 5-7 minutes. Remove to paper towel to drain.

Sauce:  Mix mayo, chili sauce, Sriracha and garlic powder.

Fill serving bowl with greens, top with shrimp and drizzle sauce over all.  Finish with chopped green onion. Enjoy!
